Cleora M. Byers

Cleora Mae Byers, 94, of Republic, passed away Monday, April 15, 2024 at Elmwood at the Shawhan in Tiffin.

Cleora was born on March 26, 1930 in Republic to the late Frank and Marie (Kraft) Yennie. She married Donald Byers at Adams Zion Lutheran Church on November 1, 1953 and he preceded her in death.

Survivors include her children, Mark (Marybeth) Byers of Republic and Diane (Randy) Nolan of Norwalk, five grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and a brother, Clarence Santos of Newark.

Cleora was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and two brothers, Edward and Robert Santos.

Cleora worked at General Electric in Bellevue, Lyme School and GTE Phone Company. She was a member of Adams Zion Lutheran Church and St. John’s Lutheran Church in Bellevue. Cleora was a graduate of Republic High School and enjoyed traveling, animals and gardening.

Funeral services for Cleora will be held at 1:00 p.m., on Friday, April 19, 2024 at the Adams Zion Lutheran Church with Pastor Roxanne Roush officiating. Visitation for family and friends will also be held on Friday, from noon until the time of the service at church. Burial will follow the services on Friday, at Zion Lutheran cemetery. The Lindsey-Shook Funeral Home in Bloomville is assisting the family with their arrangements.

Memorial contributions may be made to Seneca County Humane Society or to Republic EMW and Fire.
